The sun was burning high in the sky, making the windows on the buildings surrounding Violet, sparkle and flash as she walked casually through the crowded New York streets. There was a vague smile sitting on her lips, as she followed the flow of people along the sidewalk, not really heading to any place in particular.
Her long blonde hair hung loose, her curls blustering in the breeze caused only by her movements through the warm air. The thoughts of what chain of events which lead to Violet walking down the streets of New York lay quietly in the back of her mind, a conscious decision taken a while back meant that she wasn't going to dwell on her leaving of her family. Not right now. Not when there were still so many beautiful and wonderous places to see. And her brother would understand, even if her parents didn't. And she knew they were okay. She had some kind of connection with them. She'd just know if there was something wrong.
So having put such tortuous thoughts into a mental box which was for now, firmed locked and hidden away, Violet Harvey was more concerned with how she was going to get out of this flowing mass of people without getting trampled by disrupting the fluidity of the motion.
Suddenly, the particular mass of people that she belonged to, stopped. They had reached the edge of the sidewalk and were waiting for the continuous line of cars to stop. The sudden and unexpected cease of movement, caused Violet to accidentally and without her notice, drop her bag from her shoulder to the ground.
Then the lights changed and Vi continued forward with the renewed motion of the people surrounding her. Leaving her bag discarded carelessly on the floor behind her...
