Law got off his Ford Lobo and put took off his sunglasses. It started to get chilly but his long sleeve shirts still did the trick of getting most of the cold for him.
He just came from a job and was now looking for a place to have some lunch, he saw a cafe, he hoped they served steak and beer. Or at least something with bacon and some booze.
He would have stopped at a bar to be frank, but his hunger was literally about to kill him if he didn't stop soon. So leaving his enormous truck on the parking lot, he entered the place.
He didn't know nor care where exactly he was, he looked around at all the people there and throwing to the garbage the toothpick he had been chewing he got to the counter.
"Hey there sweetie, 'ny chance you serve steak n' beer here?" asked Lawrence to her in a polite southern tone. Though he of course sounded serious.

The morning had gone pretty quickly, fairly quiet now after the coffee run. Workers often stopped by to pick up there early fix of caffeine. But, now things had died down.
Sofie was busy cleaning tables and getting everything sorted for the lunch time hour. Camille was seated at the counter, same stool like always doodling away. She liked to bring Camille here so that she could keep a watchful eye on the young girl.
She soon moved to the counter and began serving afternoon customers. In entered a tall man, kinda stocky, longish hair. Glancing at him as he journeyed toward the counter.
"Hey there sweetie, 'ny chance you serve steak n' beer here?"
With a pleasant smile she turned to the man. Noting his accent, he was certainly not from around here that was for sure. "Unfortunately we dont sell beer, besides..its kinda early dont you think?" she asked with a slight smile.
"I can get you a none alcoholic drink?" suggested Sofie motioning to one of the stools "But i can certainly get you that steak." Sofie wasnt aware what cafe's sold whereever he came from but she wasnt familiar with any here selling alcoholic beverages, maybe wine but beer? no way..
Politely she handed him one of the menus "Just tell me what you want and i'll be happy to take your order.."

The secret and that wishful thinking his ass, no matter how much he wanted a cold one right now he wasn't about to get it with his steak. That's what happens when you watch too much documentaries when you can't sleep, you get bad ideas into your head.
"It ain' early for a beer, I'm sure it's midnight somewhere, like China or some other god forsaken place" he said his smile kinda vanishing for a while due to beerlessness. "Aight... get me a smoothie with that steak then"
"And a baked potato, no case in gettin' fried ones without beer" said Law. "With double cheese on it"
He left his jacket on the back of the stool, a metallic sound as the guns he kept there met the chair, he turned around with a face of what are you looking at in case someone decided to check out the noise and then sat at the stool.
He always knew to make chit chat in the places where you ate, that's where he got most of his jobs and hunting tips, so even though he would usually avoid people, he could talk to the girl that took his order, perhaps she knew something.
"So tell me suga', have there been 'ny weird things goin' on around here?" he asked. It was worth the shot, worse that could happen would be that she would think he was crazy and just stop talking to him, which he wouldn't mind at all.

"It ain' early for a beer, I'm sure it's midnight somewhere, like China or some other god forsaken place"
Sofie simply looked at the man when he responded. Yeah, cause that was a feesible answer. She rolled her eyes slightly then turned them back to him as he spoke again.
"Aight... get me a smoothie with that steak then..And a baked potato, no case in gettin' fried ones without beer..With double cheese on it"
With a nod she turned and handed the slip with the order on, over to the kitchen. She then turned back to Lawrence and began making his smoothie. She'd glance at him now and again wondering why he'd be in a place like this, he certainly wasnt from around here and it wasnt just the accent. He didnt look the part either.
"So tell me suga', have there been 'ny weird things goin' on around here?" he asked.
Oh, that was it. She got a cold shiver down her spine hearing his words. Having her back to him she got a look ofworry on her face. Maybe he was pumping her for information, maybe he knew about Camille. She had to stop thinking so negatively or it would show in her responce. With her best poker face she turned to him again.
Setting the smoothie down infront of him she cocked her head raising a brow "What dya mean?" she asked curious.

"Well ya know" started Lawrence. "Stuff..."
He knew that by stuff he was leaving it rather ambiguous, but he considered it appropriate, stuff comprised a lot of stuff, from the neighbor losing a cat, to a freaking triple homicide and a strong smell of sulfur.
But then he decided to drop some clues about the type of stuff he meant, usually when something weird happened and there were witnesses, people attributed their crazy ass stories to emotional trauma. Emotional trauma his ass though.
"No weird murders on the news? Someone missin' in the forest? Ya know, maybe a crazy senseless story from someone in town?" he said. "I'm interested in those sort of thin's ya know? I collect newspapers"
He always attributed his questioning to a weird fetish, like newspaper collecting, or being an opportunist real state buyer. He had picked up those tricks from other people and from Tv shows, cause at first when he came to bars asking about ghosts and demons people usually thought he was mad.

"Stuff..."
Sofie rose a brow then repeated "Stuff? you know..stuff happens. If you want specifics, you're gonna have to stop talking so cryptically" she stated with a slight smile. She knew what he was getting at but she'd be damned to bring it upto the table. Sofie had a lot to hide and she didnt want it all spilling out to this complete stranger.
Turning her head slightly she noticed that Camille hadnt even gave this guy a glance. Maybe he wasnt a bad guy, maybe there wasnt something abnormal about him, he could have simply been curious. She seemed to be able to tell the difference.
Sofie set her eyes toward him as he spoke again.
"No weird murders on the news? Someone missin' in the forest? Ya know, maybe a crazy senseless story from someone in town?"
She rose a brow. Though things had been relatively quiet lately she had heard talk about a few female victims being found near the night life part of town, the clubs and bars but she hadnt heard much.
"I'm interested in those sort of thin's ya know? I collect newspapers"
Collecting papers? the biggest lie if she had ever heard it. If that was the case he'd have stumbled across such cases in the press, they were all over this place like honey on bees. She hated the press they were always sticking there noses in where they didnt belong.
She kept her eyes on him. Awaiting him to finish before she spoke up "There's been a few incidents around town. Bodies, scattered but nothing thats not normal. I mean the world is full of crazies right?" she cocked her head at him.

Some bodies scattered around wasn't really that abnormal specially in a town as big as San Francisco. So perhaps there was nothing supernatural in this place after all. Maybe he could catch a movie or something before going on to his next hunt. But he better check online before making any judgments.
His steak wasn't done yet. "Yeah, the world is one big bag full of crazy" said Law to her. "But some places are crazier than other, han' on for a sec there, I'll go for my lap top while the steak is being done..."
He wouldn't usually say that but then people were always thinking he was going to leave without paying. So he wanted to avoid unnecessary confrontations. He went to his pick up and took a small computer out of it. It was one of those that was so small you could barely write on it, he had... Inherited from a poor family that wouldn't be needing it anymore after what happened to them.
"Ya people have wi fi or whatever that thin' is called 'round here?" he asked to the waitress while he took a seat back in the table. "Cause I may be stayin' 'round for some days, and I need to check if there is somethin' fun for me to do"
By something fun for him to do, he meant, of course, going out and hunting some ghost, demon or some new supernatural thing. It's what he liked to do to release some stress.

"Yeah, the world is one big bag full of crazy"
He was certainly right about that. Sofie knew that he was trying to pump her for information, and usually she'd have been happy to help but she didnt no this guy nor did she know what he was capable of or why he had such an interest. It was far easier and safer to play plain ignorant. For the time being that was..
"But some places are crazier than other, han' on for a sec there, I'll go for my lap top while the steak is being done..."
With a light nod she viewed the man exit and head to his truck. Glancing to Camille she nodded to the back staff room, just incase this guy turned out to be some lunatic. She wanted her out of harms way. The blonde happily jumped from her stool, no questions asked and went into the back room to watch tv.
The man shortly returned with his small laptop. Really small infact, it looked perculiar in his hand and how big he was. "Ya people have wi fi or whatever that thin' is called 'round here?Cause I may be stayin' 'round for some days, and I need to check if there is somethin' fun for me to do" With a nod Sofie handed him a bit of paper with the password on it.
"Well good luck with that search, there's not really that much here" she lied with a quick smile as she turned to the kitchen to check his order. It wouldnt be long now.
Turning back to Lawrence she tilted her head "So, do you have a name?"

"I'm sure I can find somethin'" said Law to the waitress not minding her attitude. He opened the thing and started googling. He didn't have much patience so if he didn't find something fast he would get bored and probably drive around until he found something.
He was interrupted by the waitress asking him for a name. He never liked the question, he had no name no more just something people called him after. A town.
"Ya may call me Lawrence" he said. "But if ya call me Larry I won't be Mr. Nice guy no more, alright?"
He typed San francisco ghosts into google. The first links were bullshit about some sightseeing tour and a society. Seriously he hadn't seen a ghost hunting group actually hunting anything in his entire life. He grunted out loud, and then kept reading the links, a list about haunted places in San francisco came up, that could be something fun to do. Some of the places were total hoax but one or two caught his attention.
He closed the tiny Lap Top and waited for the steak. Tourist sites were not good because they were usually ghost free already cause of some other hunters, or totally false. He preferred other jobs really, he had found out about famous haunted places way too soon into his career and now he took them with a grain of salt, but it never hurt to try.
"And who may ya be?" asked Law to her after he was done doing preliminary research, which was the only type of research he knew.

"But if ya call me Larry I won't be Mr. Nice guy no more, alright?"
With a light chuckle Sofie nodded "You got it.." she wasnt going to piss this guy off not for one moment. He was fairly bigger then she and she felt she wouldnt likely be able to take him.
"And who may ya be?"
His food was done now so she quickly turned back to the kitchen and took the plate from the cook. Sofie set the plate down before Lawrence and then answered "I'm Sofie" she introduced herself with a friendly smile.
Sofie went and got the cutlery from the tray and handed them to Law so he could eat. Moving back to the counter she began cleaning up and sorting through bills "So, What is it that you're actually looking for?"she questioned as she worked.

He nodded as she said she got it, he liked people respecting him, if not you were just another poor soul in the world that everyone thinks can go over you. And that wasn't Lawrence.
"Well very nice to meet ya Sofie" said Lawrence as she served him the steak. It looked good, and he was nearly done with the smoothie. Damn. Well after this he could hit a bar for his afternoon beer.
"I'm into huntin'" said Lawrence truthfully. "I go from place to place, carryin' my rifle and gettin' into the best.... Huntin' locations in town"
That wasn't a complete lie, and if she knew about this stuff she might get the message, if not she would simply take it as he was another gun happy red neck. He could live with both, so he didn't care.
"Would've hit a bar where more hunters gather, but what can I say, I was really hungry" he said as he ate more steak. "I know I am outta place in here... I don' need no weird looks to tell me that"
"So that's it" said Law as he kept eating and watching the waitress, he wasn't into a lot of conversation but he had learned to make chit chat where you eat, usually best places to get information.

"Well very nice to meet ya Sofie"
Sofie gave a warm smile and simply nodded toward the man as his food was now laid out down before him. The cafe was relatively quiet about now, the other workers were cleaning tables or helping clean in the kitchen. Sofie was on the counter with Trevor who was tending to any orders.
"I'm into huntin'" said Lawrence truthfully.
The brunette was particularly surprised by the blunt truth. She had half expected a lie, thats what people tended to do these days. Hell, even herself. She was living the biggest lie..pretending she was normal.
"I go from place to place, carryin' my rifle and gettin' into the best.... Huntin' locations in town"
She gave a surprised look as she stayed silent nodding once more. Setting the cloth down after cleaning the counter she turned to Lawrence as he spoke again. She wasnt one for butting in, besides what did you say to a guy who carried a rifle?
"Would've hit a bar where more hunters gather, but what can I say, I was really hungry..I know I am outta place in here... I don' need no weird looks to tell me that"
Hunters gather? there was like a meeting joint for them? not that it was a bad thing of course. You know hunters helped rid the world of evil, if of course thats what he was getting at. However, from time to time they got there wires crossed and would quite litterally pop a bullet in the ass of anyone who seems unatural. Who werent of the norm. Whatever the hell that meant these days.
"So that's it"
With a broad smile she tilted her head toward him as she turned and began restocking the cups under the coffee machine "Sounds, interesting..i dont know how you do it though. I'm not really into firearms, or hurting anything of any kind..though, you know i hear a lot of talk about hunting and how..fun its sposed to be" she stated glancing at him.
"So you're one of those nature lovers? you know the whole living in the wild and all that. I mean i dont know if thats what you hunters do. I'd just pressumed you know like thats how it is in my head. But, hey if i'm wrong..im all ears..."

He kept eating, and listening as she spoke and when she said any kind he knew he had hit jackpot. He let a smile appear on his face, only someone that knew about this wouldn't mistake hunting with going to the forest and shooting at some defenseless animals.
In Law's mind hunting involved the victim having a fair chance of killing the hunter, so ghosts and demons were fair play. He wouldn't waste his time shooting birds or some other lame animal.
"Ya don' have to be into firearms to hunt" said Law. Really sometimes swords and axes were just as effective. "But yeah, hurtin' something does occasionally happen"
He laughed when she asked about him being a nature lover, though it was true he was the outdoors sort of guy, it wasn't really like that. Ghosts rarely haunted country places where no one ever went to.
"I don' go 'round huggin' trees if that's what ya meant" said Law laughing. "But I do like to hunt out in the open, though most of the times it's not..."
Law wanted to know more, she was versed on this and he wanted to know what she knew, maybe she would tell him about a case or something.
"But I think ya know somethin' about huntin', even if ya don' hunt yourself..." said Law. "So tell me then blondie, what is it that ya know?

"But I think ya know somethin' about huntin', even if ya don' hunt yourself..." said Law.
Sofie found herself at a loss for words when he asked her what she knew. There she had done it again. Allowing her mouth to move without thinking. She'd well and truly put herself in it now. Good thing Camille wasnt around at the time cause her nervousness would have surely increased.
Forcing a smile she looked at him "Look, i can play dumb with you or i can be frank. This town is..known for strange activities. Im not fully aware of what exactly it is that happens here, but there seems to be a lot of..unexplainable events." she told him, half lying about it. She knew more about it then she'd stated but she had to lie to keep her own self out of the mix.
"Im just saying, you might wanna keep your eyes open. That and watch yourself. I have no doubt that your capable of taking care of yourself. But around here there are eyes and ears everywhere..id be careful what you say and who you talk to" she warned him with genuine concern.
Part of the reason she had such a quiet life was because you could never trust anyone. You had to stay hidden.

"Unexplainable events huh?" said Law. "Looks like I might spend more time than I intended in the first place"
He kept eating and finishing his smoothie. He was really craving a beer by now. Then she went on to tell him some paranoid theories and to be careful and all that stuff that people always said to other people.
"Maybe I should be careful of talkin' to ya then" said Law to the girl. "You might turn into a vampire and kill me at night, or somethin'"
He could have researched on Werewolves and Vampires, but he found it had been rather more easy and fun to just watch movies, usually they did some research first, so Law simply took notice of the most common ways to kill them and carried those. Though so far he had only encountered demons and ghosts.
He hated demons, he was on a path to make every last one of them suffer and go back to hell for what they had done to his family. So if a choice came between hunting a Vampire and a Demon, he would always go for the demon.
"I appreciate the concern sweetie, but I'm a grown man, I think I can handle a couple of ghosts and some demons" said Law not caring if anyone heard him, and after all people always said that Alcoholism and Drugs were demons so if anything they would think he was a drug addict.
