Yours is the first face that I saw I think I was blind before I met you Now I don't know where I am, don't know where I've been But I know where I want to go There was a progressive shift in climate over the last few weeks. You could certainly tell that the winter would shortly be here. The air was cold. The sky was dull and grey with an overwhelming fog dimming out most of the horizon. As soon as he stepped out from the office building. Nick felt the cold chilled air crash against his skin.
Shuddering the man rolled up the collar on his black pea coat, hoping to use the material to shield his face from the icy wind chills. Digging his hands into his pockets, he briefly lowered his head to the floor, elevated his shoulders upward into his neck in a desperate bid to keep himself warm.
Typical. Today was his day to do the coffee run. Man, why did he have to volunteer today?. The weather was abysmal. Luckily though it wasn't raining. He hated the rain along with thunder storms. The man despised thunderstorms. Which the others were collectively amused about. When a storm was coming, Nick wouldn't be seen anywhere and after a long search would soon be found hiding under some cosy blanket with the TV up full. Not really the behavior of someone who hunted 'ghouls' for a living. But, everyone had there fears.
The man walked with his head heavily lowered to the ground. His efforts to protect himself from the cold air seemed to be paying off. Nick continued onward watching his feet as he moved along. When more residents began to surface on the street he was forced to finally lift his eyes ahead of him. to prevent any incidents. As soon as he lifted his head up the cold attacked again.
Nick felt the coldness seep through to his bones. His teeth chattered some as he felt the cold surge down his spine. Urgently bringing his hands from his pockets he let out a heavy hot breath to keep them warm. Hastily rubbing them together he couldn't take much more and sought refuge in the nearest cafe.
It wasn't Starbucks but they still sold caffeine filled beverages which was an all round win for him. He really didn't want to trek across town in this weather.
Extending his arms, he slowly pushed the entry door open and stepped inside. He felt himself allow a heavy sigh of relief to escape his cold lips when he felt the luxurious, welcoming warmth. Nick actually stopped in his tracks for a couple of moments to lavish in the wonderful heat. That was better.
With a affable grin on his face he took a quick glance around the partially empty cafe before slowly moving toward the counter.
He took a deep sharp breath, as if he had been running. When in actual fact it was him once again loving this glorious heat that surrounded him. With a toothy smile he turned to the blonde waitress who stood at the counter, ready to take his order.
"Hi.." he began with a wholesome tone. Nick then recited the order to her. The way he informed her was simply as he had been told, in a list, that's how he'd remember it. Though he looked and sounded somewhat robotic, he knew he wouldn't mess it up and there for wouldn't face an ass whooping when he got back.
The blonde told him that it would be several moments as pastries were also ordered and each were made fresh upon the order. He couldn't complain, he'd prefer fresh goods rather then those frozen bunch of crap you chucked in the oven or the ones that were on the display counters that simply got reheated at a turn.
Smiling he gave a grateful nod. Nick ordered a coffee for the duration of his waiting time, said his thanks and took a seat at one of the tables. Pulling the seat out, Nick briskly took his coat off and placed it on the back of his chair. He was wearing a white, round necked, long sleeved T-shirt. A pair of black jeans and a set of black shoes upon his feet. Hardly winter attire but he'd only popped out for ten minutes.Tag: Sofie Word Count: 763

With recent occurances involving Camille and her drawings, Sofie had been taking a fair few days off. She feared for the young girl, she couldnt very well keep her out of her sight. She wasnt willing to allow Camille to be under anyone elses watchful eye, she was her guardian now and she had a duty to fulfill, she had to keep the young girl safe..no matter what it took or however long it was going to take her. Sofie decided to check into the cafe to ensure that everything was running smoothly, without her being there to keep things under control and even though she was occupied with Cam, it was still her business and she still needed to keep it together. The brunette had been standing at the window for several minutes now just staring into space. Camille wasnt much for sleeping and lately Sofie had been the same, those drawings that the girl had created had begun to really play on her mind. She wished she could get to the bottom of them but Cam was never one to be straight forward with answers. She often spoke in riddles. Sofie spotted Cam behind her, the reflection in the window. Glancing over her shoulder she gave a warm smile and waved for her to come over "You know, it's possible it might snow today" stated Sofie placing her hand onto Cam's shoulders. Turning to her she spoke again "Do you wanna go get your coat? i need to stop off at the cafe" looking down at the girl she watched Cam gaze out of the window before heading off to get her coat. She headed to the hallway herself to get her coat. Lifting her cream knee length coat from the peg she stuck both arms inside, fastened the buttons then rearanged the collar. She'd be quite warm out as her coat was an added two layers over the grey jumper she'd already got on underneath. Lifting her red scarf from the peg also, she began to kneetly tied it around her neck. Cam was all set to go with her red coat, white hat with matching gloves and scarf. With a smile Sofie headed to the door, turning the handle she held it open for the small blonde before proceeding out behind her. As soon as they got outside the blonde swiftly latched on to Sofies hand, she loved how Camille did that and how it made her feel like Camille knew she was safe with her. The two shortly set out toward the cafe. The air was freezing and quite brupt against her skin, her cheeks turning rosy within moments of being outside. Jittering some she glanced down at Camille who seemed fine. Damn, there was still so much she didnt know about this girl. So much that still surprised her. The cafe was a block, two blocks at the most from her home, a short walk really. It took them about ten minutes to get there and upon arriving she was relieved to see the place still in one piece. Letting go of Camille's hand she briefly pushed the door open, holding it, allowing the blonde to enter first. The blonde had grown accustomed to the cafe and as soon as she entered, comfortably skipped upto the counter taking her stool that sat closest to the kitchen. With a grin she walked toward the counter following Camille's trail as she did. Stopping behind the girl she lifted the hat from her head, bent down and grinned at her "Okay take off your coat, and i'll get you a hot chocolate, with marshmallows?" she beamed and began to tug at her own scarf and gloves. Sofie took them from her and placed them on the coat peg in the back room. After doing the same with her own she headed back to the main sitting area. With another smile toward Camille she got behind the counter and began making her a drink. Since Sofie had been away for a few days on and off she hadnt been there when the leaflet for Sullivan and Cooper P.I had been placed in the window, raising a brow she cocked her head to take a closer look. Sofie handed Camille the hot chocolate and then moved toward the window where the leaflet sat. Lifting it up she turned it around and began scanning it quickly. There wasnt much detail on the leaflet, infact nothing at all. Raising a brow she took the leaflet to the counter and approached Trevor with a question " Where did this come from?"she asked waving it about slightly. With a grin she looked somewhat wary "We did look into this right? made sure it wasnt a con or an axe murderer?" she asked with some amusment, she knew he hadnt. Trevor simply stuttered and then responded with a simple 'i sort of forgot..' Sofie laughed lightly and placed the leaflet down onto the counter "I'll go and take a look after im done here..but next time, you need to check up on these things. Theres barely any information here" little did she know the owner was sitting pretty close by, within listening distance that was for sure. Word Count: 908 (my post sucked tho )

Nick found himself with his head buried in one of those free read papers that had been laying on a stack on one of the counters. His bright blue eyes scanned lightly over the page, skim reading as he awaited for the waitress to call for him to retrieve his order.
With his eyes set on the page before him. Nick lifted his left hand up, extended it toward his mug and gently curled his fingers around the handle. The hot beverage produced steam which arose from his mug as he slowly lifted it to his lips. Nick blew lightly over the liquid in effort to cool it down before pursuing the rim with his lips. The heat generated from the cup against his skin showed that it certainly hadn't cooled enough to take a large guzzle. Taking a tiny sip of his drink he briefly set it down.
His blue eyes trailed the room momentarily as he set his mug down again. Suddenly a girl in a red coat went zooming passed his table. Setting the paper aside he went on to view as the little girl bounded between the tables and straight toward the counter. With a light smile he watched as she hopped up onto the stool, clearly she had been here before.
The young man wandered for a moment. Was she by herself? his question confirmed by the young woman striding in behind her. Nick simply glanced toward her for a second but in that short time got a very good look at her. She certainly wasn't this girls mother that was for sure, she was far to young. Sister?..maybe..but this woman she looked somewhat latina and the girl, well..she didn't.
Nick turned to the paper again but found himself slightly drawn toward the girl. He couldn't figure out what it was but for some reason he found himself full of curiosity and weirdly enough slightly light headed. Suspecting the caffeine he set a glance onto his cup, or maybe it was the closeness of the text from the article against his eyes, either way he felt a headache coming on.
Setting the paper down he bought his fingers to the bridge of his nose and began rubbing lightly to ease the strain on his eyes. Nick removed his hand just in time to clock the brunette passing by him. Though he didn't wish to stare his eyes followed her toward the window where she was looking at something in particular.
Prying his eyes from her he set them back onto the paper article and bought his coffee to his lips again. Testing the heat with a sip first. Nick was satisfied by the temperature before taking a generous sip.
The woman shortly returned to her place at the counter and his eyes once more fell upon her. He'd caught ear of her talking and soon noticed that she was questioning the flyer placed in the window. His flyer. Oh boy, was this going to get either interesting or very awkward..Nick bowed his head again sipping once more.
"We did look into this right? made sure it wasn't a con or an axe murderer?" she asked the boy behind the counter.
He hadn't asked at all. Cause Nick was the one who had asked to put it up. The guy just agreed and did it.
He wandered and hoped that this guy would not get into trouble. Clearly Nick should have asked for the boss's permission, clearly she was the boss of this place and the boy actually wasn't. Biting his lip he lifted his head up as she continued on. Axe murderer? he was amused. Hardly, in fact Nick was likely the most gentle guy there could have possibly been. A big softie as Kris would say. Sometimes to soft for his own good.
Trevor simply stuttered and then responded stating her had forgotten. She didn't seem to angry, in fact she was amused by it which was somewhat of a relief. But, it got him wondering was she amused at the idea of a private investigation or the boys reaction to her questioning.
"I'll go and take a look after i'm done here..but next time, you need to check up on these things. Theres barely any information here"
Nick took that into notice. Yeah, there wasn't any information because he knew the reaction they'd get or he'd have gotten asking to put it up. A straight and simple no way.
Even though the young man had not gotten into trouble. Nick still felt obliged to talk up for him and himself in regards to the leaflet and lack of information. Taking a deep breath in. Nick folded the paper over, laid it gently on the table, finished his drink before arising from his seat.
Holding the empty cup in his hand he stepped up to the counter. A friendly smile toward the man who he now knew as 'Trevor' he handed the mug over to him. Glancing toward Camille he then set his sights on Sofie speaking up finally.
"I can assure you that it's completely legit" he stated bringing up his hands as if indicating he was harmless "Also not a axe murderer" Nick assured with a bright smile slowly extending a friendly hand out to her. It was better to make friends around here, there place of business and all.
"Nick Sullivan, and you are?" Nick surprised himself with his own presence, he actually hadn't messed that one up. In fact, he'd been quite smooth about it. Which made him smile more.
(970! haha..i win)

"I can assure you that it's completely legit"
Sofie turned her gaze toward the tall fair haired man as he spoke. She felt suddenly embarassed, it was clear now in such little ammount of words that he had something to do with this agency.
Smiling brightly she watched as the man held his hands up indicating that he was certainly no threat, then stating atleast not an axe murderer anyway. As the man extended his hand she set her hazel stare toward Camille as some sort of approval. Camille had a way with knowing what people were like, she'd often caused Sofie to stray from certain individual's because of inproper intentions and she had always been right.
However, Camille gave a gentle nod of the head. There wasnt anything wrong about him, not that Camille had detected so that was a good thing. Glancing at his hand she let her hands move from it and to his eyes again.
"Nick Sullivan, and you are?"
He politely introduced himself and Sofie was happy to return the politeness. Taking his hand she shook it lightly going on to introduce herself "Sofie Lockwood.." she spoke softly then nodded toward Camille as she let go of his hand "And, this is Camille.." with a smile she glanced from Camille to Nick.
Lifting the leaflet up she wavered it lightly looking curious "So Nick Sullivan, maybe you can give me some insight on your company? i mean i am advertising it in my window..what if people ask questions?" asked Sofie with another smile.

Yours is the first face that I saw I think I was blind before I met you Now I don't know where I am, don't know where I've been But I know where I want to go The young man anticipated her reaction. He'd half expected her to badger him about the flyer nor asking for her permission. However, she seemed very friendly and if anything particularly embarrassed by the whole ordeal. He could relate to such embarrassment. He often found himself in these forms of situations, where he'd said something aloud and someone had heard, only to correct him and make him look such a damn fool. Not that he had set out to do such a thing. Of course not. He was simply assuring her that what she had maybe believed, wasn't entirely true.
Nick couldn't help but notice that Sofie looked toward Camille when he'd extended his hand. As if to ask for permission. He found this extremely bizarre, but wouldn't question the reason behind it. He wasn't like that. Yes,it was slightly strange to see a grown woman ask permission before acting in response to a fellow human being..but maybe there was a feasible reason for it. Either way he wasn't about to question her behavior. He'd only just met her.
The fair haired man watched Sofie as she seemed to hesitantly take grip of his friendly hand. He wasn't going to hurt her, definitely not but what was to stop her from thinking so. Many thoughts wandered through his head. Maybe she hadn't had much look with others in the past or maybe she was simply very shy, just like he. Though, he'd never have thought so by looking at her. The man would be understating if he said that Sofie was just pretty. She was far more then that. Almost perfect and ideal looking he could say. Again something he'd keep to himself. He wasn't one to throw compliments around to strangers, he wasn't really into making her think he was a complete pervert.
Finally after what seemed like forever of waiting. The brunette took his hand. Her grasp was gentle and her skin still slightly cold from the outside air. It was noticeable how big his hand was in comparison to her own, which was no surprise since he almost dwarfed her in height. Nick gave a toothy, but not to eager grin as the brunette then introduced herself.
"Sofie Lockwood.."
She replied in a soft and friendly manner. Nothing least then what he had expected. So far he had presumed that Sofie was a very gentle human being, he could tell she was somewhat shy by the way she had been hesitant in her reaction. Nick was fairly good with body language, you had to be in his line of work. Not everyone they stumbled upon were genuine and honest. You had to really see inside someones head and the only way to do that was by there outside actions.
"And, this is Camille.." with a smile she glanced from Camille to Nick.
Nick turned his head slightly, acting completely oblivious to the blonde even being there. She didn't need to know that Nick had earlier been watching her. Feeling some how compelled to view her existence. With a bright smile he held his hand up, half waving toward the blonde before setting his eyes back on the brunette in front of him.
Sofie went on to lift the leaflet up again. Nick felt his tummy grumble from nervousness, she was definitely going to hound him about the agency now. That was for sure. He wasn't surprised, not at all. She was entitled to her questions because his flyer had been in that window for several days now without her knowing. One thing he couldn't complain about was the fact that she was curious. It meant she didn't outright think he was some kind of bat shit crazy serial killer.
"So Nick Sullivan, maybe you can give me some insight on your company? i mean i am advertising it in my window..what if people ask questions?" asked Sofie with another smile.
Grinning toothily he gave a nod of agreement. She was right after all. There'd been minimal information for a reason because he didn't wish people to just laugh the concept off. Turn there noses up at it. He wanted just a chance to open peoples eyes to the idea of his business. Make them come to the building to take a look around. Clearly most people hadn't reacted to well. Laughing or simply skulking off feeling that they'd been betrayed. He could only for see what Sofie's reaction may have been.
In a somewhat nervous tone he spoke up again "Okay, sure..i can do that" his toothy grin softened at the idea that he would now have to explain all of this to the strange brunette in front of him. Man, this was going to likely be one of the worse moments of his life.
Nick gestured toward the table he'd been seated at before proposing to the brunette "Uh, you wanna come sit with me? i mean..it might take a while" asked Nick with another light grin. He'd simply have to ignore his nerves and pull himself together. The easiest thing would be to lie. But, lying never got anyone anywhere and he felt courteous to be honest to this woman.
Turning slightly on his heel, he gestured again for her to follow him. He stayed at her side as he didnt want to seem like he was firstly forcing her to follow and secondly seem far to eager for his own good.
"So, Sofie how long have you owned this place?" Nick questioned again that nervousness in his tone. As they moved back to the table where he'd been seated. Nick generously pulled the seat out for her before taking his own. Manners never went a miss. He was bought up to respect people, particularly women so manners were a complete must.

"Okay, sure..i can do that"
Sofie watched the fair head man before her. He seemed really nervous to her. It surprised her to be fairly honest because by the looks of him you'd have expected him to radiate such confidence, he really didnt though.
Smiling she continued to observe him as he shortly motioned toward the table he'd previously been seated at. "Uh, you wanna come sit with me? i mean..it might take a while" Nick asked her, again his nerves showing. She couldnt help but smile at him, it was very unexpected the way he spoke and acted. She hoped if anything this was normal behaviour as she didnt wish to be some kind of intimidater.
The man slowly turned on his heel half leading the way but at the same time awaiting for her to follow. With another look toward Camille the girl just smiled and continued doodling. As Sofie passed her she patted her lightly on the head slowly following behind Nick.
"So, Sofie how long have you owned this place?"
Nick pulled her seat out for her then made his way to his own. With a smile she thanked him and slowly took a seat before answering "Well about 4 years or so. Its only really the last 2 that things have picked up. I mean it's hard here, being in the center of town and all.." explained Sofie as she cupped her hands on the table.
"So, im curious. How did you come about creating such, business? i mean..my pressumption is possible child hood dreams of being a detective or..maybe you were a cop or am i completely wrong with both?" she grinned with a light chuckle.

Yours is the first face that I saw I think I was blind before I met you Now I don't know where I am, don't know where I've been But I know where I want to go Nick felt relief when the brunette opted to sit with him. Delighted at the same time that she didnt think he was to weird to be seated with. Maybe that would change though..
"Well about 4 years or so. Its only really the last 2 that things have picked up. I mean it's hard here, being in the center of town and all.."
The brunette explained. Nick gave a light nod of the head, understanding totally where she was coming from. Starting a business was hard, he knew that from first hand experience. Lucky for him he'd had his friends to help him through. Sophie appeared to have a good team here but from what he had seen, she was in it alone. You had to admire that.
Nick watched as Sophie spoke about her experience and how she really had found it difficult. She was doing well for herself from where he was standing. Kudos to her. As Nick listened though he soon realized that he had yet to drag his eyes from the woman before him. In fact he'd been staring at her long enough for the silence to linger before she asked her own questions.
"So, im curious. How did you come about creating such, business? i mean..my pressumption is possible child hood dreams of being a detective or..maybe you were a cop or am i completely wrong with both?"
Jolting back to reality he allowed a nervous laugh to escape from his lips. Nick sat forward slightly, bringing his left hand to the back of his neck which he rubbed anxiously, hoping she hadnt clocked him staring at her like an idiot.
"Not entirely. I mean everyone has those dreams, right? detective..ballerina..mine wasnt a ballerina by the way" he joked with a small smile. "In honesty. It came from personal occurances" Nick confessed. Clearing his throat he knew thered be no way of wriggling out of this one so he decided to just go with it. Worse she could do was laugh and walk away, right?
"You might think im crazy." Nick shared biting the end of his lip nervously. Sighing he hunched forward keeping the talk between them and no one else "The reason why theres not much information on my flyer is because were not like many other agencies. We deal with mostly, specific..paranormal phenomenon.." there it was. Cat out of the bag. Now for the reaction. Nick grimaced somewhat as he awaited her responce.
